I didn't post one of these last week because I didn't have a great weigh-in. That kind of breaks the rules -- so this week I'm being more accountable.
In the comments share your successes and challenges for the week.
One of my challenges is when I have free time, not completely wasting it, say on playing Freecell. I rarely have time just to myself and so I end up staying up way too late just so I can de-stress. I either watch stupid movies or play Freecell on the computer while watching stupid movies. I think my life runs much better when I get enough sleep but it's a challenge. What are some of your techniques for getting more sleep? (And techniques for getting a toddler who started waking up in the middle of the night to stop?)

I held even from last week. But, I did exercise more and I've already exercised twice this week so that's a good start.
I actually lost the pound I gained a few weeks ago, go figure. I ate terrible and only exercised three times. Oh well, still trying to exercise better and take it easy on the eating.
As for getting sleep, impossible when the kids are little! Even if they don't wake me up (which they do at least 6 nights a week), my body is so used to waking up that I do anyway several times a night. The one night I slept well last week was when I took some Nyquil -- that helped!
I have worked out everyday this week for a whole hour, but sadly have gained a pound. I have even been writing down everything I eat and tally up the points and count calories but still no results. My work out consists of treadmill for only a mile but I hit the punching bag and lift weights, so I think that I should be dropping some weight but of course I am not. What's the secret?
My kids don't sleep either. If they are asleep before 11:30 it has been a successful night. I have even tried letting her cry to sleep but she gets out of her crib or she screams until she throws up. (which reminds me I have to vaccum the baking soda on the carpet for her throw up from last night)
I have even tried laying on the floor in her room to let her know that there is nothing to be scared of. I end up falling asleep on the floor and waking up with a kink in my neck.
Too bad we just can't give the kids NyQuil every night without bad side effects.
Jill, I can't figure out weight loss to save my life. Last week I ate so bad (and I'm talking serious bad eating like ice cream, cookies, barbecue, etc. and lots of each) and I lost a pound. I think the key is to just be consistent and not give up when it seems like nothing is happening. Easier said than done!
I held even, and I ran a 10-miler. Youch. This Saturday I'm supposed to run 12 miles. I know when I lift weights it's very hard for me to lose weight, and it increases my appetite. The only sucessful way I know how to lose weight is through running (jogging). Walking doesn't even do it for me. I need to be up to at least a 5.0 on the treadmill to reap the benefits of exercise. With running, I can lose more than 400 calories in 35 minutes. But that's just me...I don't trust personal trainers who claim you burn more calories from lifting weights. It's not possible. The most calories I'd burn from lifting weights for one hour would be in the 300 calorie range. And I don't think my body would burn that much more throughout the day with increased muscle mass.
Nohea still gets up in the late morning, about 6:45 AM. On days when I don't seem to get anything done and Nohea is waking in the night, I try to remind myself that it's temporary, and we'll be back to some semblance of normal in a few years--or maybe not.
